ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is examining how frailty affects blood pressure and heart rate in older patients who will receive spinal anesthesia during elective surgery. Frailty is a condition that can make older adults more vulnerable to health problems. The study will involve 60 participants aged 65 and older who are generally healthy enough for surgery but may have varying levels of frailty. To be included, patients should not have serious heart issues, severe heart failure, or other specific medical conditions that would make spinal anesthesia unsafe for them.
Participants in the trial can expect to receive fluids before their spinal anesthesia and will have their blood pressure and heart rate closely monitored during and after the procedure. If their blood pressure drops or if their heart rate becomes too slow, specific medications will be given to help. This study aims to better understand how frailty impacts patients during surgery, which could help improve care for older adults in the future.
