ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the NEU-VODE study, is investigating whether using a video laryngoscope, which has a camera to show a clear view of the windpipe, helps doctors successfully intubate newborn babies on the first try without causing drops in their oxygen levels or heart rate. Intubation is a procedure where a tube is placed into the windpipe to help babies breathe, especially when they have trouble due to conditions like respiratory distress. Currently, doctors often use a standard laryngoscope, but this study aims to see if the video laryngoscope can make the process easier and safer for babies.
To participate in this study, infants of any age who need intubation can be included as long as their parents agree to allow their data to be used. The study will take place in hospitals where doctors usually perform intubation using the standard method. As the study progresses, doctors at each hospital will switch to using the video laryngoscope at random times. Parents can expect that their baby's intubation process will be carefully monitored, and the results will help determine the best method for future use.
