ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the effects of two types of exercise—eccentrically reinforced resistance training and traditional resistance training—on improving mental and physical health in older women who lead a sedentary lifestyle. The researchers want to see if these exercises can help reduce feelings of depression, enhance physical abilities, and improve thinking skills over a 10-month period. The goal is to find out which type of exercise is more effective for these health benefits.
To participate, women must be at least 60 years old, fluent in Portuguese, and willing to commit to the study. They should also have good vision in one eye and currently engage in less than 150 minutes of physical activity each week. However, those with certain health issues, like uncontrolled chronic illnesses or joint problems, or who have recently been involved in regular exercise programs, are not eligible. Participants can expect to engage in supervised exercise sessions and will be monitored for changes in health markers such as muscle strength, body composition, and overall well-being.
