ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different methods for inserting a small tube (called a thin catheter) into the windpipe of premature babies who are having trouble breathing. The study will compare a traditional tool, called a standard laryngoscope, which lets doctors look directly into the baby's mouth, with a newer tool, called a video laryngoscope, which has a camera that shows a picture on a screen. The goal is to see if using the video laryngoscope helps doctors insert the thin catheter more easily, with fewer attempts and less chance of the baby’s oxygen levels or heart rate dropping during the procedure.
To be eligible for this study, newborn infants of any sex who need a thin catheter inserted for surfactant treatment can participate. Parents or guardians will need to provide consent for their baby’s data to be shared. Throughout the trial, families can expect that doctors will be using either the standard or video laryngoscope during the procedure, and researchers will carefully track how well each method works. This study aims to improve care for babies who need help with their breathing after birth.
