ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at a condition called postoperative atrial fibrillation, which is an irregular heartbeat that can happen after heart surgery. Specifically, the study will focus on patients undergoing their first planned cardiac surgeries, such as coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) and valve replacement, at Assiut University Heart Hospital. The researchers want to understand how often this condition occurs and what risk factors might contribute to it.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for one of these surgeries. They should not have a history of heart surgery before and must currently be in a stable heart rhythm without taking certain heart medications, except for specific types. If you choose to participate, you’ll be asked to provide informed consent, meaning you agree to be part of the study after understanding its purpose. The study is not yet recruiting participants, and it’s essential to know that individuals with certain medical conditions, like hyperthyroidism or electrolyte disturbances, will not be included. This trial aims to improve our understanding of heart health after surgery, which could lead to better care for patients in the future.
