ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Textbook Outcomes in Urgent Appendectomy," is studying how many patients have a smooth recovery after surgery for acute appendicitis. A "textbook outcome" means that the surgery goes well, without any complications, hospital readmissions, or death. Currently, there isn’t much research on these positive outcomes for patients who undergo an appendectomy, which is the surgical removal of the appendix due to inflammation.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and diagnosed with acute appendicitis that requires surgery. Unfortunately, if you are under 18 or have a different condition, you wouldn’t be eligible. While the trial is not yet recruiting participants, those who do join can expect to be part of a study that aims to better understand successful surgical outcomes for appendicitis. This research could help improve care for future patients facing similar surgeries.
