ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is investigating whether a brief guided visualization exercise can improve patient experiences during anesthesia for oral and maxillofacial surgery. Researchers want to see if this exercise, combined with standard pre-operative instructions, helps patients feel better during their procedure compared to patients who only receive the usual instructions. The study will measure various outcomes, such as how patients rate their anesthesia experience, how they react during different stages of sedation, the amount of medication used, and how long the sedation lasts.

To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between 8 and 70 years old and scheduled for intravenous sedation at the oral and maxillofacial surgery clinic. They should also be able to understand instructions in English or through an interpreter. However, individuals with severe cognitive or psychiatric issues, those not receiving intravenous sedation, or those undergoing procedures in different settings cannot participate. If you join the trial, you can expect to provide feedback on your experience and have your sedation monitored throughout the process. This research aims to help improve anesthesia outcomes for future patients.
