ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a technique called the Recto-Intercostal Fascial Plane (RIFP) Block to help manage pain in patients undergoing laparoscopic cholecystectomy, which is a minimally invasive surgery to remove the gallbladder. The trial aims to see if this method can reduce the need for pain medication after surgery. The RIFP Block involves injecting a local anesthetic into a specific area in the chest to numb the nerves that send pain signals from the upper abdomen, which could help patients feel more comfortable after their operation.
To participate in the study, you need to be between 65 and 74 years old and classified as a low-risk patient by the American Society of Anesthesiologists (ASA). You must be undergoing the surgery under general anesthesia and not have certain health issues, like a history of bleeding problems, severe heart or kidney disease, or allergies to the medications used in this procedure. If you join the trial, you can expect to receive the RIFP Block during your surgery and be monitored closely afterward to see how well it works in managing your pain. Overall, the researchers hope this approach can improve recovery for patients like you.
