ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to perform a procedure called a gastroscopy, which helps doctors examine the upper part of the digestive system. The main goal is to see if using a single-use gastroscope at the bedside can speed up the time it takes from when a patient is referred for the procedure to when the procedure is actually done, compared to using a reusable gastroscope in a special endoscopy unit. By comparing these two methods, researchers hope to find out if patients can get the care they need more quickly when the procedure is done beside their bed instead of in a separate clinic.
To participate in this trial, patients must be at least 18 years old and admitted to a specific surgical department at Zealand University Hospital for an early gastroscopy without needing general anesthesia. However, some patients won't be eligible, particularly those who are very unstable or have certain health conditions. Participants can expect to have the procedure done twice: first with a reusable gastroscope in the endoscopy unit and then with a single-use gastroscope at their bedside. This trial is not yet recruiting participants but aims to help improve the efficiency of care for patients with upper gastrointestinal disorders.
