ClinConnect Summary
The PAYMENT Trial is a clinical study designed to see if giving early-stage cancer patients cash payments can help them handle the financial stress that often comes with a cancer diagnosis. Many patients face high medical bills and may struggle to pay for everyday expenses like food and rent, which can lead to worse health outcomes. This trial will provide participants with a cash card each month that they can use for any expenses they choose, helping them focus on their treatment without worrying as much about money.
To be eligible for this trial, participants need to be at least 18 years old, understand English, and be newly diagnosed with an early-stage solid tumor that is being treated with the aim of curing it. They should also be patients at specific PeaceHealth locations and show signs of financial stress. The trial will not accept individuals who are on Medicaid or enrolled in hospice care. If you join the study, you can expect to receive monthly cash support, which may help improve your overall quality of life while you undergo cancer treatment.
