ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how critically ill patients respond to fluid therapy, specifically looking at two important factors: fluid responsiveness, which measures how well a patient’s body responds to extra fluids, and venous congestion, which indicates how well the body can handle that fluid without becoming overloaded. The goal is to understand how these two factors change over time after giving patients a standard amount of fluid through an intravenous (IV) line. This research is important because finding the right balance in fluid therapy can help improve outcomes for patients in intensive care.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be at least 18 years old, currently hospitalized in an intensive care unit (ICU), and undergoing certain monitoring to assess their heart function. Doctors must also have decided that the patient needs additional fluids. However, pregnant individuals and those who do not wish to participate cannot enroll. Participants can expect to receive IV fluids as part of their usual care while also contributing to this important research, which could help improve fluid management in critically ill patients in the future.
