ClinConnect Summary
This study is testing whether wearing colored light glasses after kidney donation surgery can help reduce pain and nausea. Participants are randomly assigned to one of four groups: blue lens glasses, green lens glasses, clear (colorless) lens glasses, or no glasses at all. The researchers will compare the effects of the colored glasses to the clear glasses and to not wearing glasses, to see if the colors make a difference in comfort after surgery. Participants wear the glasses for at least 8 hours per day from after they’re moved to the hospital ward until they go home, and they report their pain and nausea every 2 hours on the first postoperative day and every 4 hours on the second day.
Who can join: adults who donate a kidney, can wear glasses, can communicate with the study team, and are not color blind. People who develop postoperative complications during the study period or who cannot wear glasses are not eligible. If you participate, you’ll be asked to provide quick pain and nausea ratings during your hospital stay. The trial is taking place at Acibadem Atakent Hospital in Istanbul, Turkey, and is currently enrolling by invitation with results not yet available.
