ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a condition called intravenous leiomyomatosis (IVL), which can develop from growths in the uterus known as uterine leiomyomas (or fibroids). The researchers want to find out if a virus called HPV (Human Papillomavirus) plays a role in causing IVL in women. They will collect tissue samples and test for HPV in women who have been diagnosed with either IVL or uterine leiomyomas and who are undergoing surgery.
To participate in this study, women must be adults and have either suspected IVL or uterine leiomyomas. They need to be able to understand and sign a consent form to take part. However, women who are pregnant, breastfeeding, or have other types of cancer will not be eligible. Participants can expect to provide samples during their surgery, and this will help researchers learn more about the connection between HPV and IVL. The trial is not yet recruiting participants, so it will be starting soon.
