ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Exhaled Breath: A Novel Technique for Rapid Diagnosis of Respiratory Diseases and Infections," is exploring a new way to quickly diagnose lung diseases in patients who are in the intensive care unit (ICU) and require breathing support. The researchers are using a special technology called mass spectrometry to analyze the air that patients breathe out. By doing this, they hope to find signs of respiratory problems and inflammation earlier than current methods allow, which could lead to better treatment outcomes.
To participate in this study, patients must be adults over 18 years old who are in the ICU receiving ventilatory support but are not suffering from COVID-19. However, patients with very serious breathing issues or those who are critically unstable due to low blood pressure or other complications are not eligible. If someone qualifies and decides to take part, they can expect to provide breath samples that will be analyzed to help improve the understanding and treatment of lung diseases. This trial is currently looking for participants, and it aims to make diagnosing respiratory issues faster and more accurate, ultimately benefiting patients in critical care.
