ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at two different ways to give a medication called pethidine to help prevent shivering after a caesarean section. Shivering can be uncomfortable for new mothers following surgery, and the researchers want to find out whether giving pethidine through an intravenous (IV) line or directly into the spinal area (intrathecal) is more effective in stopping this shivering. They will also check how these methods affect other things like blood pressure, nausea, vomiting, and drowsiness.
To be eligible for this trial, participants must be pregnant women who are scheduled for a caesarean section and are between the ages of 18 and 45. However, there are some conditions that would prevent someone from participating, such as having uncontrolled health issues like high blood pressure or diabetes, being significantly overweight, having allergies to medications, or having a body temperature that is too low or too high. If someone joins the trial, they can expect to receive one of the two forms of pethidine and be monitored for their symptoms after surgery. This study is currently looking for participants to help answer these important questions.
