ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is looking at how the size of a blood vessel called the inferior vena cava (IVC) relates to the pressure in the right atrium of the heart in children with heart conditions. Researchers want to see if measurements taken through a non-invasive ultrasound can help predict the pressure in the heart, which is usually measured using a procedure called central venous catheterization. By understanding this connection, they hope to create a tool that can help doctors assess heart pressure more easily in pediatric patients.

To participate in this study, children aged 0 to 18 years who are having a central venous catheter placed for heart diagnosis may be eligible, as long as they do not have certain heart conditions, like univentricular physiology or specific complications. Parents or guardians will need to give their consent for minors to join the trial. Participants can expect to contribute to important research that could improve heart care for kids, and their data will be collected both from past medical records and during their current treatment.
