ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different types of sealants used to protect the chewing surfaces of back teeth, specifically in children aged 6 to 12 who have a condition called molar incisor hypomineralization. This condition means that some of their permanent molars have weakened enamel, which can lead to tooth decay. The trial will involve children who have been diagnosed with this condition and will compare a conventional sealant that uses acid to prepare the tooth surface with a self-adhesive flowable composite sealant that is applied in one step.
To participate, children must have at least two permanent first molars that are fully erupted and show signs of enamel defects. Those currently undergoing orthodontic treatment, who are uncooperative, or have more severe dental issues will not be eligible. Throughout the trial, the children will receive regular check-ups at 1, 3, 6, and 12 months to see how well the sealants are working. Parents will be informed and asked to give written consent before their child can join the study. This trial aims to find out which sealant works better in preventing cavities in children with this specific dental condition.
