ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating which type of colonoscope works best for people who are obese—specifically, those with a body mass index (BMI) over 30. A colonoscope is a long, flexible tube that doctors use to look inside the colon during a procedure called a colonoscopy, which is important for screening for colon cancer and other conditions. Currently, doctors can choose between two types of colonoscopes: one designed for adults and one for children. This trial aims to find out if one type is better than the other for patients with higher BMI.
To participate in this study, you need to be an adult with a BMI greater than 30, and you should be scheduled for a screening colonoscopy. Unfortunately, if you have had certain medical conditions or procedures, like previous colon surgery or inflammatory bowel disease, you won't be eligible for this trial. If you join, you can expect to receive either the adult or pediatric colonoscope during your screening, and the doctors will monitor how well it works for you. This study could help improve colonoscopy experiences and outcomes for obese patients in the future.
