ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a method called the Transversalis Fascia Plane Block (TFPB) to help control pain after laparoscopic inguinal hernia repair surgery. The TFPB involves using ultrasound to guide the injection of a local anesthetic, which can help numb the specific nerves responsible for feeling pain in the area. The researchers want to find out if this technique can make patients feel more comfortable and reduce pain after their surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and must be undergoing elective surgery for a unilateral inguinal hernia, meaning they have a hernia on one side of the body. Patients with a history of chronic pain or certain health issues, such as allergies to local anesthetics or a high body mass index, won't be able to take part. Those who join the trial can expect to receive the TFPB injection during their surgery and will be monitored for pain relief afterwards.
