ClinConnect Summary
The "Fasting Effects on Metabolism and Immunity Study" is a clinical trial that looks at how complete fasting for one week affects the immune system, metabolism, and brain function in healthy adults. Researchers want to understand how fasting changes the body at a detailed level, using various scientific methods. This study is currently recruiting participants aged 18 to 65, who are generally healthy, have a body mass index (BMI) of 18.5 or higher, and can handle some hunger during the fasting period.
If you decide to participate, you’ll be expected to fast completely for a week while only drinking water. Before joining, it’s important to note that certain individuals are not eligible, including pregnant or breastfeeding women, those with specific medical conditions (like heart disease or chronic infections), and anyone who has used certain medications recently. This study offers a unique opportunity to learn more about how fasting can impact our bodies, and all participants will be required to sign an informed consent form to ensure they understand what’s involved.
