ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying two different ways to treat fractures of the calcaneus, which is the heel bone. These fractures often happen in younger people and can lead to long recovery times. Traditionally, doctors have either put the foot in a cast to heal without surgery or performed open surgery, which requires a large cut to fix the bone but can lead to complications. The trial will compare a newer method called minimally invasive surgery, which uses smaller cuts, to the traditional non-surgical method using a plaster boot. The goal is to see if the new surgical approach helps patients recover faster and have fewer problems in the long run.

To participate in this trial, you must be at least 18 years old and have a specific type of heel fracture that is less than 15 days old. You also need to be part of a social security scheme and agree to take part in the study. Unfortunately, some people may not be eligible, such as those with open fractures, certain other injuries, or specific health conditions. If you join, you can expect to be randomly assigned to one of the two treatment groups and closely monitored throughout your recovery to gather valuable information about the best treatment options for these types of fractures.
