ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how a 12-week Pilates mat exercise program can help improve physical performance in middle-aged women who are obese. The study will involve 60 women, aged 45 to 55, with a body mass index (BMI) between 30 and 34.9, meaning they are classified as obese. Participants will be randomly divided into two groups: one group will do Pilates exercises three times a week for an hour, while the other group will not participate in the exercise program. The researchers will measure how well the women can perform certain physical tasks, like standing on one leg, getting up from a chair five times, and walking for six minutes, before and after the 12-week period.
To be eligible for this trial, women must be between 45 and 55 years old and have a BMI within the specified range. However, those with certain health issues, like heart disease, liver disease, high blood pressure, or joint problems, will not be able to participate. This study is not currently recruiting participants, but it aims to provide valuable information about how Pilates might help improve the daily activities and overall well-being of women in this age group who are dealing with obesity.
