ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying the muscles of patients with colorectal cancer, particularly focusing on those who are experiencing cachexia, which is a condition that leads to significant weight loss and muscle wasting. The researchers want to understand how the muscle structure differs between patients with cachexia, those without it, and healthy individuals. By analyzing muscle samples and conducting various physical tests, they hope to gather important information that could help improve the care of cancer patients.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old. Cachectic patients must have experienced unwanted weight loss and meet specific criteria related to their physical condition. Non-cachectic patients and healthy volunteers will also be included, but they must not have experienced significant weight loss. Participants can expect to undergo muscle biopsies, blood tests, physical performance assessments, and answer questionnaires about their activity levels and quality of life. The findings from this trial may provide valuable insights into the effects of colorectal cancer on muscle health.
