ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at the long-term results of surgery for patients with problems related to the temporomandibular joint (TMJ), which connects the jaw to the skull. Specifically, it will check how well surgeries like arthroscopy or discectomy work for patients diagnosed with temporomandibular joint disc displacement, both with and without reduction. Researchers want to find out if the improvement seen six months after surgery lasts for about ten years and how the condition of the joint changes over that time.
To participate in this study, you need to have had TMJ surgery before and be between the ages of 65 and 74. If you qualify, you will have a check-up and an imaging test (a special type of x-ray) about ten years after your surgery. This trial is still in the planning stages and has not started recruiting participants yet, but it aims to help us understand how effective TMJ surgery is in the long run.
