ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how different types of protein can affect the body’s ability to use protein effectively, especially in healthy older adults. The researchers want to compare the effects of milk protein, which is high quality, to wheat protein, which is a plant-based option that might not be as effective for protein synthesis. The goal is to understand if the quality of protein matters for older adults who are trying to maintain their health and muscle strength.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 65 and 85 years old and have a body mass index (BMI) between 18.5 and 30. You should be generally healthy and engage in light exercise, but not intense workouts more than once a week. If you smoke, have certain health conditions, or take specific medications that affect protein metabolism, you may not be eligible. Participants will be asked to follow a diet that includes either milk or wheat protein, and they can expect to contribute to important research that could help improve dietary recommendations for older adults.
