ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is called the PREhospital Prediction of the Risk of Intracranial Hemorrhagic Injury in Elderly Patients with a Fall. It aims to understand how to better predict the risk of serious brain injuries, like bleeding in the brain, in older adults who have fallen and may have hurt their heads. The study will take place at Toulouse University Hospital and involves collecting information through a questionnaire filled out by doctors who respond to emergency calls.

To participate, you need to be at least 65 years old and have called emergency services after a fall that might have caused head trauma. If you are eligible and take part in the study, a research team will follow up with you by phone about a week later to check on your recovery. If any concerns arise during that call, a doctor will reach out to provide further assessment and support. Importantly, if you undergo brain imaging at the hospital and it shows no issues, you won’t be contacted again, as that indicates a low risk for delayed brain injuries. This trial is not yet recruiting participants but aims to improve care for elderly patients who experience falls.
