ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called the ARA Project, is exploring how music can help improve the mental and emotional well-being of older adults living in care homes. As people age, they may face challenges like memory loss and difficulties in social interactions, which can affect their quality of life. The study will compare two groups of older adults: one group will participate in weekly music workshops for three months, while the other group will simply attend concerts at the facility. Researchers will measure the effects of these activities on cognitive (thinking and memory) and socioemotional (feelings and social skills) health at the start of the study, right after the workshops, and one month later.
To be eligible for this study, participants must be older adults living in a care home and able to give their consent to join. However, those with certain physical or mental conditions that would make it hard to take part in music activities will not be included. This trial aims to provide valuable information on how music interventions can benefit older adults, helping to create effective non-medical ways to enhance their well-being.
