Valvular Heart Disease Mixed Aortic Valve Disease

ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying a condition called moderate mixed aortic valve disease (MAVD), which means that patients have both a narrowing (stenosis) and leaking (regurgitation) of the aortic valve. Researchers want to learn more about the outcomes for patients with this condition, particularly since there are currently no standard guidelines for when to consider surgery or other treatments. The trial aims to determine if patients with moderate MAVD who do not show symptoms might be at risk for serious heart issues similar to those with severe aortic stenosis alone.

To participate in the trial, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74, and have moderate aortic stenosis and aortic regurgitation. The study is looking for both men and women, but if you have already had heart surgery on your aortic valve or have other significant heart valve problems, you won’t be eligible. If you join, you can expect to undergo evaluations to determine your heart health and how your condition may progress. This research could help doctors better understand how to treat patients like you in the future.
