ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying two different types of dressings used to prevent pressure ulcers, also known as bedsores, in patients undergoing heart surgery. Specifically, the trial is comparing a polyurethane foam dressing called the "Pink Pad" with another dressing known as Mepilex. Pressure ulcers can develop when patients lie in one position for a long time, especially during surgery, so the goal is to see which dressing works better at protecting the skin.
To participate in this trial, you need to be at least 18 years old and scheduled for cardiac surgery. You should also be at risk for developing pressure ulcers based on a specific assessment called the Braden scale. If you agree to join the study, you'll be monitored closely to see how well each dressing works in preventing skin damage. This trial is currently recruiting participants, and it’s important to note that those under 17, anyone who does not want to participate, or those with allergic reactions to the dressings cannot join. Your involvement could help improve care for future patients undergoing similar surgeries.
