ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Pathways to Perinatal Mental Health Equity" is focused on improving mental health care for individuals during pregnancy and up to one year after giving birth. Studies show that 1 in 5 people experience anxiety or depression during this time. This trial will compare two different approaches to mental health care in 32 perinatal care settings across the United States: one that follows a standard healthcare model and another that partners with community resources. The goal is to find out which approach better supports the mental health needs of pregnant and postpartum individuals.
To participate in this study, individuals must be at least 18 years old and proficient in English or Spanish. Perinatal care team members, like doctors and nurses, as well as trained peer mentors who have lived experience with these issues, can join the study. Participants can expect to share their experiences and insights through focus groups or interviews. This research aims to help states and healthcare systems decide how to improve access to mental health support for those navigating pregnancy and the early months of parenthood.
