ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "Detection of Muscle Quality in Children," aims to find out how well ultrasound can measure muscle quality in children aged 10 to 14 years. Researchers want to see if the ultrasound method, known as echo intensity (EI), is accurate and reliable compared to other well-established techniques like DXA scans (which measure body composition) and isokinetic dynamometry (which assesses muscle strength). The study will look at children who are normal-weight, obese, and those who are young athletes, helping to create guidelines that can distinguish between healthy and unhealthy muscle quality.
To participate in this study, children need to be generally healthy, meaning they shouldn't have any serious illnesses or conditions affecting their muscles or hormones. Unfortunately, those with recent injuries or ongoing health issues won't be eligible. While the study is not yet recruiting participants, when it begins, eligible children can expect a safe environment where their muscle quality will be assessed using ultrasound technology. This research could provide valuable insights into children's health and fitness, ultimately helping to improve their well-being.
