ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a new method called Vagal Active Tone (VAT), which uses techniques like breathing, relaxation, and making sounds (like humming) to stimulate the vagus nerve during labor. The goal is to see if this stimulation can help reduce labor pain, lower anxiety levels, and improve the overall birth experience by affecting important hormones like oxytocin and cortisol. The study will include 50 pregnant women who are in their 28-32 weeks of pregnancy, are expecting their first baby, and meet certain health criteria.
Participants can expect to take part in activities guided by video materials that focus on these relaxation and vocal exercises. The study will compare two groups—one using this new approach and another that does not, to see the differences in pain and anxiety levels during labor. It's important to note that women with certain health issues, like complications in pregnancy or specific medical conditions, will not be eligible to participate. This trial aims to provide valuable information that could help improve the birth experience for many women.
