ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to monitor damage to the parotid glands, which are important for saliva production, after patients receive radiation therapy for head and neck cancer. The goal is to find a non-invasive method to detect early changes in how these glands function, helping doctors decide the best time to take steps to protect them from further damage. This could ultimately improve the quality of life for patients by reducing dry mouth, a common side effect of radiation treatment.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and have a confirmed diagnosis of nasopharyngeal carcinoma, which is a type of head and neck cancer. You should also be scheduled to receive radiation therapy as part of your treatment. However, certain conditions could exclude you from participating, such as having metal implants that prevent MRI scans or being pregnant. If you join the study, you can expect to undergo imaging tests that will help the researchers closely monitor the health of your parotid glands during your treatment.
