ClinConnect Summary
The clinical trial titled "Reablement in Residential Aged Care" is studying how a new approach, called the Re-RAC intervention, can help older adults living in care facilities improve their daily activities, satisfaction, and overall quality of life. The goal is to support these individuals in becoming more independent and engaged in their lives. The study will involve 86 participants aged 65 and older who can communicate in Swedish and are living in certain care facilities. Those with severe cognitive impairments or who are very frail will not be included in the trial.
Participants will receive personalized support over eight weeks, starting with an interview to set meaningful goals. They will then follow a tailored plan with activities designed to help them achieve these goals, with support from nursing staff. Throughout the study, their progress will be monitored, and their experiences will be gathered through interviews. This research aims to understand not only how the intervention affects their health and well-being, but also how it compares to the usual care they receive. The findings will help improve future care for older adults in residential facilities.
