ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, titled "Focal Muscle Vibrations in Acute Stroke," is designed to see if a treatment called Repeated Muscle Vibration (rMV) can help patients recover movement after experiencing a stroke. The study will include adults aged 18 and older who have had a specific type of stroke called a sylvian ischemic stroke and are hospitalized for more than a week after their stroke. To participate, individuals must be able to understand instructions and provide consent, and their ability to move on the affected side must be rated between 4 and 7 on a simple scale.
Participants in this trial can expect to receive either the rMV treatment or a placebo (a treatment that looks the same but has no active effect) during their hospital stay. This study is still in the planning stages and has not started recruiting participants yet. It’s important to note that some people will not be eligible, such as those with certain legal protections, other serious medical conditions, or those who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Overall, this trial aims to find out if rMV could be a useful tool to help stroke patients regain their motor skills more effectively.
