ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is looking at how much opioid medication patients use after having surgery for genitourinary cancers, like bladder, kidney, or prostate cancer. After surgeries such as cystectomy (removing the bladder), nephrectomy (removing the kidney), or prostatectomy (removing the prostate), participants will fill out a survey 30 days later to report their opioid use and how they disposed of any leftover medication. The study also aims to see if providing an educational pamphlet about safely disposing of unused opioids helps people manage their medications better.
To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old and scheduled for one of the listed surgeries due to a cancer diagnosis. You should be able to read and understand either English or Spanish and be willing to give consent for your health information to be used in the study. If you join, you can expect to share your experiences with pain management after surgery and learn about proper disposal methods for any leftover opioids, all while helping researchers gather important information that could improve care for future patients.
