ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how a special test called bioimpedance analysis (BIVA) can help healthcare providers assess patients before and after lung surgery, specifically for those with lung cancer. BIVA involves passing a mild electrical current through the body to measure things like hydration levels and muscle mass. This information can be valuable in predicting how well a patient might recover after surgery, especially since recovery can vary greatly among individuals. The study will also look at how these measurements relate to common post-surgery issues, such as heart rhythm problems or lung complications.

To participate in this trial, patients should be between the ages of 65 and 74 and scheduled for lung surgery due to a primary cancer diagnosis within the past year. However, patients with certain conditions, such as chronic heart rhythm issues or those who have had significant lung surgery before, will not be eligible. Participants can expect to have their body composition assessed before and after surgery, and the trial aims to gather important data that could improve care for future patients undergoing similar procedures.
