ClinConnect Summary
The Deprescription of Antidepressants in Primary Care (DAPriCare) trial is studying how to safely reduce the use of antidepressants in adults who may not need them. While these medications can be beneficial for people with moderate to severe depression, their long-term use in those with mild symptoms is being questioned. The goal of this study is to see if a careful review and possible reduction of antidepressant use can improve patients' quality of life.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 18 years old and have received at least one prescription for antidepressants in the past year. Those selected will work with a team of healthcare professionals who will evaluate their current treatment and decide if it’s appropriate to gradually lower or stop their medication. This process will be done with medical supervision to ensure safety. The trial aims to gather important information that could help improve how antidepressants are prescribed in the future, benefiting both patients and healthcare practices.
