ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new treatment for cutaneous leishmaniasis, a skin condition caused by parasites. Researchers want to see if a local injection of ciprofloxacin, an antibiotic, is effective in treating this condition when compared to a standard treatment called sodium stibogluconate. Participants will be divided into two groups: one will receive the ciprofloxacin injection, and the other will receive the sodium stibogluconate injection. Each participant's skin lesions will be monitored for 90 days or until they heal completely.
To be eligible for the trial, participants should have one to six active lesions of cutaneous leishmaniasis and should not have received any anti-leishmaniasis treatments in the month before joining the study. It’s important to note that patients on long-term corticosteroid therapy cannot participate. Those who join the trial can expect regular injections and follow-up appointments to check on their progress. This study is currently recruiting participants of all genders, aged 6 to 21 years.
