ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is investigating a new treatment called MRI-Guided Laser Interstitial Thermal Therapy (MRIg-LITT) for patients who experience tremors from Parkinson’s disease or essential tremor that do not respond to medication. The goal is to see if this less invasive procedure can safely help those with severe tremors who cannot have another treatment called deep brain stimulation. This trial is currently recruiting participants aged 18 and older who have tremors that are difficult to manage with standard medications and who cannot or do not want to undergo deep brain stimulation.
Eligible participants will undergo a procedure where lasers are used to target and treat the part of the brain responsible for their tremors, guided by MRI scans for precision. Throughout the trial, researchers will monitor the safety and effectiveness of this treatment. It’s important to note that individuals who cannot have MRI scans, general anesthesia, or who have certain cognitive or psychiatric conditions will not be able to participate. This study offers an exciting opportunity for those looking for new treatment options for their tremors.
