ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "RCT-Consumer Perceptions of Cannabidiol (CBD) Health Claims," is exploring how advertising that makes health claims about CBD products affects people's buying decisions. Currently, CBD cannot be marketed as having health benefits without approval from the FDA, and it should not be advertised as a food or dietary supplement because it is an ingredient in an approved medication called Epidiolex. Despite these regulations, many misleading ads claiming that CBD can cure diseases like cancer or prevent Alzheimer's are still being seen by consumers, and this study aims to understand how those claims influence people's choices.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between 18 and 79 years old, live in the U.S., and either currently use CBD or have used it in the past. You'll need to be comfortable reading and speaking English and able to complete a survey on your own. If you join, you can expect to take part in a shopping task at a Mini Mart, where you'll share your thoughts on CBD advertisements. This research is important because it could help understand how consumers perceive CBD products and the impact of misleading health claims.
