ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to identify obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) in children, a condition that causes breathing problems during sleep. OSA is quite serious and can lead to issues like high blood pressure and behavioral problems if not treated. The researchers want to see if short video clips of children sleeping, recorded by their parents using smartphones, can effectively help identify those who might need further testing for OSA. They believe these video clips might be better than traditional methods like questionnaires or oxygen level recordings in spotting children at risk for moderate to severe OSA.
To participate in the trial, children aged 2 to 18 who are referred for a sleep study to check for OSA can enroll. Parents will record their child sleeping, and later, the children will undergo a standard sleep study. Throughout the process, parents will also fill out a questionnaire about their child's sleep habits. The goal is to use this easily accessible technology to help find and treat children with OSA sooner, potentially reducing the risk of long-term health issues. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but it represents an exciting step toward improving diagnosis and care for children with sleep-related breathing problems.
