ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new way to monitor a nerve during a specific type of thyroid surgery called transoral endoscopic thyroidectomy vestibular approach (TOETVA). This surgery aims to remove thyroid nodules or cancers without leaving visible scars. One concern during this procedure is protecting the recurrent laryngeal nerve (RLN), which helps control voice and breathing. The trial compares two monitoring techniques: one that checks the nerve at intervals (intermittent monitoring) and another that provides continuous monitoring. The goal is to see if the new continuous monitoring method can better detect any nerve injuries early on and reduce the risk of nerve damage during surgery.
To be eligible for this trial, participants should have certain types of thyroid conditions, such as benign nodules or small early-stage cancers, and should not have had previous thyroid surgeries or treatments that could affect the surgery. Those involved in the study will have their nerve function monitored in real-time during the procedure to help ensure their safety. This innovative approach could lead to improved outcomes for patients undergoing thyroid surgery by minimizing the risk of complications related to nerve injury.
