ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is focused on preventing frailty in older adults while they are in the hospital. Frailty is a condition that makes it harder for older people to do everyday activities, which can lead to longer hospital stays, more health problems, and a greater risk of going back to the hospital after discharge. The study aims to find out if patients who receive more frequent visits from Kinesiologists (professionals who help people improve their movement and physical activity) will become more active, feel stronger, and recover better than those who only see a Kinesiologist once a day.
To participate in this trial, individuals must be at least 50 years old, expect to stay in the hospital for at least four days, and be able to give consent for themselves or have a caregiver who can consent for them. The study will use activity monitoring technology to track how much patients move during their stay and measure their frailty levels. Participants will likely experience daily support to help them stay active, which could lead to a shorter hospital stay and lower chances of needing to come back to the hospital. This program aims to help patients leave the hospital feeling healthier and more independent.
