ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying a new testing method called Multiplex PCR to identify germs in patients with periprosthetic joint infections (PJI), which are infections that occur around joint implants. This trial is part of a two-stage treatment approach aimed at clearing the infection before placing a new implant. Researchers want to see how well the Multiplex PCR method works compared to the standard culture tests that are typically used to identify the germs causing the infection.
To participate in this study, you need to be at least 18 years old and have a diagnosed infection around a hip, knee, or shoulder implant. You should be undergoing treatment using the two-stage protocol for your infection. If you decide to join, you’ll be asked to give your consent and provide samples that will be tested with both the new Multiplex PCR method and the standard culture tests. This study is currently recruiting participants, and both men and women are welcome to join. Your involvement could help improve how infections like these are diagnosed in the future.
