ClinConnect Summary

This clinical trial is studying how increasing physical activity before surgery can affect recovery for patients with bladder cancer. Specifically, the trial focuses on patients who are scheduled to undergo a radical cystectomy, a surgery that removes the bladder due to invasive cancer. Researchers want to see if encouraging participants to walk 8,000 to 10,000 steps daily for four weeks before their surgery can help reduce complications and improve their quality of life during and after the hospital stay.

To participate in this study, individuals should be diagnosed with urothelial cell cancer of the bladder and preparing for surgery. However, those who use a walking aid, have depression, or have certain medical issues that affect movement may not be eligible. Participants will be monitored with pedometers to track their steps, and their physical activity and well-being will be assessed before and after surgery. This trial aims to better understand how preoperative exercise can support recovery and enhance the overall experience for patients undergoing this major procedure.
