ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial, called "LUng and Cardiac Ultrasound for REspiratory Distress in ElDerly," is designed to explore how using ultrasound technology can help doctors better manage breathing problems in older adults. Specifically, the study will look at patients over 65 years old who come to the Emergency Department with sudden difficulty breathing, known as acute dyspnea. To participate, patients need to show signs of serious breathing issues, like rapid breathing or low oxygen levels. Family members or trusted individuals can also help provide consent if the patient is unable to do so.
The trial is not yet recruiting participants, but when it begins, eligible individuals will undergo ultrasound tests of their lungs and heart to guide their treatment. This study aims to see if this approach can improve care for elderly patients experiencing respiratory distress, which can be a serious condition. If you or a loved one are experiencing such symptoms, it's important to discuss treatment options with your healthcare provider.
