ClinConnect Summary
The "Stories to Prevent (StoP) HPV Cancers" trial is a research study designed to see if sharing personal stories from cancer survivors can help parents encourage their 9- to 12-year-old children to get the HPV vaccine. This vaccine is important because it can prevent certain types of cancers caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). In this study, 200 parents will be randomly assigned to either watch a video featuring cancer survivors talking about their experiences and recommending the vaccine or a control video that doesn't include this information. The main goal is to see if watching the survivor stories increases the number of children who start their HPV vaccination series during their next doctor visit.
To participate, parents need to have a child aged 9 to 12 who hasn't had the HPV vaccine yet and should be able to read and understand English or Spanish. They also need access to a device like a smartphone or computer to watch the video. This study is not yet recruiting participants, but if you're interested, it could be a great way to help improve HPV vaccination rates and protect children from future cancers.
