ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is studying how doctors decide when very premature babies (born before 28 weeks of pregnancy) are ready to be taken off breathing machines, a process called extubation. The researchers want to understand the doctors' thoughts and practices regarding extubation and whether their assessments match the actual success of the procedure. They will look at various factors, such as the baby's health and breathing patterns, to see how these influence the decision to extubate. The study will track the babies in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) for their first two weeks of life, focusing on their breathing outcomes and overall health after being extubated.
To participate in this trial, babies must be born before 28 weeks of pregnancy and admitted to the NICU within the first 24 hours after birth. Parents will be asked to allow researchers to collect information about their baby's health during their hospital stay. This study aims to gather valuable information that could help improve care for extremely premature infants, ensuring that decisions about their breathing support are made as effectively as possible.
