ClinConnect Summary
This clinical trial is exploring a new approach to recovery after abdominal surgery at Sahlgrenska University Hospital. The study focuses on how getting patients moving and encouraging them to practice breathing exercises sooner and more often can help them heal faster, reduce hospital stays, and lower the chance of complications. Researchers want to find out which factors can help identify patients who may benefit most from these early interventions after surgery.
To participate in this trial, you need to be between the ages of 65 and 74 and scheduled for either elective or emergency abdominal surgery that lasts more than four hours. You'll also need to be awake and off the breathing machine right after surgery and have an overnight stay planned in the recovery area. If you're having plastic, trauma, transplant, or orthopedic surgery, you won't be eligible for this study. If you join, you can expect to engage in activities and exercises tailored to your needs to help support your recovery.
